2022

  • March 15: No one who lives in Fincastle can work for Fincastle unless they are hired as contract labor for less than $500 with a 1099 and a form on what work was done

  • February 8: No one living in Fincastle can be a supervisor or foreman of maintenance 

 

2021

  • September 22: No employee is allowed to take Fincastle equipment home with them

  • September 22: No one is allowed to use Fincastle equipment unless it is an employee

  • August 3: The Board will do random drug testing for all employees

2020

  • November 24: The Property Manager and Maintenance Foreman should be on salary pay

  • November 7: All maintenance men will go through training on how to deal with angry residents

  • October 27: The office manager has the right to tell a resident that they have to pay their operating expenses with money orders instead of checks if their check bounces 1 time. This can least for a period up to 12 months.

  • October 2: The Board’s designee is the only one allowed to do Inspections of the units

  • October 2: The property manager is the go between for maintenance and the Board

  • September 8: All employees receive up to $50 for their phone bills depending on the cost of their phones

  • September 8: Employees will now work the Friday after Thanksgiving and will get all of Christmas Eve off

  • September 8: Employee uniforms will be re-evaluated at the employee’s 90 days

  • July 21: Employees will receive health insurance. 80% will be covered by Fincastle and 20% will be covered by the employee.

 

2019

  • March 21: Office and Maintenance hours are Monday – Friday from 8:30am to 5:00pm

 

2014

  • January 14: Employees may live in Fincastle

 

2013

  • January 8: Approved internet for the office

 

2010

  • December 14: All work orders are to be done in the order that they come in, except for emergencies

  • August 10: Employees must lock the dumpster after hours and on the weekends

    • Volunteers will hold keys in case of an emergency

 

2009

  • March 3: Vacation and Sick Time can be taken in half day increments

 

2008

  • February 10: 2 day no show due to a snow storm can be made up by using sick leave or annual

  • February 10: ½ hour late show can be made up either by short lunch or extended day

  • February 10: After a roof replacement, the roof must be inspected by the maintenance foreman

 

2007

  • May 8: Employees are allowed to use sick hours if a spouse, child, mother, or father is hospitalized

  • February 13: Employees can use their funeral leave for their in-laws (mother, father, sister, brother)

 

2003

  • May 13: Maintenance will no longer be able to pick up operating expenses for residents. Operating payments can be mailed to the office, hand delivered during business hours, or dropped in the letter slot during non-business hours

 

2001

  • August 21: An employee on the verge of a dismissal should hand over the Corporation keys to our property, be sent home, an emergency meeting called as soon as possible for a decision on whether the employee in question should be dismissed or given another chance

 

2000

  • January 25: Fincastle Heights will no longer provide Life Insurance coverage for any Fincastle employee

 

1998

  • September 8: Who ever works in the office must contact all people who are late with operating payment by their second day late

  • February 10: The maintenance man on call will inspect the community building in between rentals on the weekend

 

1997

  • March 11: The Board will hire and fire employees

  • March 11: There will no longer be a gas allowance

 

1996​

  • August 13: Fincastle will have a time clock and employees should have to punch in an out

 

1991​

  • April 9: The Corporation will supply and install handrails where needed for medical reasons only on front porch steps at no cost to the resident

 

1990

  • October 9: No employee with one year’s service or more can be discharged without prior approval of the Board

  • October 9: An employee who is off for more than 30 days for any reason will not accumulate vacation pay or holiday pay while off

  • January 9: Employee handbook will be changed in regards to sick day benefits to read “cumulative up to 30 working days, non-payable upon termination or separation”

 

1988

  • April 12: From this date forward, on furnaces the galvanized duct work will be insulated when the furnace is installed

 

1987

  • March 24: The maintenance committee will inspect the porches and windows

 

1985

  • May 14: Fincastle will have our wrought iron rails and uprights pre-sprayed at the maintenance terminal; Fincastle will purchase a paint sprayer to do the job; possibly a wagon-type sprayer

 

1983

  • September 13: Any employee of Fincastle Heights who is under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs while on duty (including employees on call) is subject to immediate termination

 

1979

  • February 13: Employees would be given three days with pay when there was a death in the immediate family (mother, father, sister, brother, son, daughter, husband or wife)

 

1977

  • September 27: If an employee is on standby duty on one of the six (6) official holidays, he will have one day added to his vacation

 

1974

  • April 9: The Manager and one or more Board members will accompany the regular Inspection Committee each time a vacated apartment is inspected; that they take pictures, if needed, and set a charge for materials and labor, if needed, to put the apartment in order, which charge will be withheld from the member’s equity (October 2, 2020 rule supersedes some of parts of this rule)

 

1970

  • August 26: A record of any and all improvements, additions, and replacements done in any apartment will be kept on file in each individual’s folder as a permanent record

 

1969

  • April 9: As soon as an apartment becomes vacant, and as soon as the men are available to work on it, that any structural repairs, such as, walls, ceilings and floors, be made before the new tenant moves in, if possible, because the apartment would look better and sell faster
